Choose Standard Series when the attachment ecosystem is the requirement. RIDGID states that the RP 350 works with all RIDGID Standard Series jaws, rings, actuators and attachments. It is not a heavier version of a Compact tool; it is a different attachment family.

Tool capacity is the outer envelope. Fitting-system approval can be narrower, so the exact jaw/ring and fitting manufacturer's installation documentation still control the connection.
Standard Series jaws, rings and actuators
RIDGID calls the RP 350 the only press tool in its class compatible with all RIDGID Standard Series jaws, rings, actuators and attachments. Current Standard-Series product data lists dedicated ProPress, PureFlow and MegaPress jaws, plus rings/actuators for tight-access and larger-size work.
That broad Standard ecosystem is the main reason to choose the RP 350 over a Compact tool. It is also why an existing Compact jaw collection should not be counted as transferable value: Compact and Standard are different attachment families.

If nearly all work fits inside Compact limits, the RP 251's lower weight and smaller envelope can be a better everyday choice. If the tool must cover larger copper, standard rings or 2-inch MegaPress/PureFlow work, the RP 350's broader platform matters more.
What the 4-inch rating does—and does not—mean
RIDGID's RP 350 specifications list 4-inch capacity for copper, stainless and carbon steel, but that is not permission to use any 4-inch fitting or ring. Large-diameter systems can require a specific ring, actuator or Press Booster and can have different approvals by fitting manufacturer.
For example, RIDGID explicitly notes the Press Booster requirement for 2-1/2 through 4-inch carbon steel. Treat large-diameter pressing as a system-level purchase: tool, attachment, actuator/booster, fitting family and exact size.
RP 350 kit configurations and why they matter
RIDGID's current ordering information makes it clear that “RP 350” can describe very different purchases. Catalog 67083 is the tool-only RP 350. The 67053 battery kit includes ProPress jaws from 1/2 through 2 inches, while other kits may include only smaller ProPress jaws, no jaws, or MegaPress jaws. Comparing two prices without comparing the included attachment set can therefore be misleading.
For a contractor who already owns Standard Series jaws, a tool-only kit can be logical. For a first-time Standard buyer, the jaw/ring package can represent a large part of the real system cost. Compare the exact included catalog numbers, not just the tool model printed in the listing title.
Used or replacement RP 350 checklist
- Confirm the listing is actually an RP 350 and not an earlier Standard model with a different service history.
- Inventory every included jaw, ring and actuator by catalog number and fitting-system marking.
- Do not assign value to Compact or Mini attachments that happen to be bundled with the tool; they are not RP 350 Standard attachments.
- For large carbon-steel work, confirm whether the required Press Booster is included or must be purchased separately.
