RIDGID RP 115
Smallest launch model. Mini ProPress and PureFlow jaws cover common 1/2 and 3/4 inch service sizes. It is intentionally narrower than Compact or Standard platforms.

RIDGID press tools are easiest to choose by attachment family and required size, not by model number alone. The RP 115, RP 251 and RP 350 sit in different Mini, Compact and Standard families, and that distinction controls which jaws, rings and actuators belong with the tool.
RIDGID selection shortcut
RP 115: Mini Series for small 1/2–3/4 in. ProPress/PureFlow work. RP 251: current Compact Series for broader service work through 1-1/4 in. copper/stainless and 1 in. carbon steel. RP 350: Standard Series 32 kN platform for larger jaws, rings and actuators, including work reaching 4 in. where the approved system permits it.

| Family / model | Force | Representative capacity | Attachment family | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RP 115 Mini | 15 kN | ProPress / PureFlow 1/2–3/4 in. | RIDGID Mini Series | Small residential/service connections and tight access |
| RP 251 Compact, current | 24 kN | Copper/SS to 1-1/4; carbon steel to 1; PEX to 1-1/2 in. | RIDGID Compact Series | Broad compact service platform |
| RP 241 Compact, prior generation | 24 kN | Copper/SS to 1-1/4; PEX to 1-1/2; steel to 3/4 in. | RIDGID Compact Series | Existing-tool owners and legacy attachment continuity |
| RP 350 Standard, current | 32 kN | Copper/SS and carbon steel to 4; PEX to 2 in. | RIDGID Standard Series | Larger commercial work and broad ring/actuator coverage |
RIDGID's current cross-reference guide groups tools by Mini, Compact, Standard and Extended attachment families. That grouping is the safest starting point when you already own jaws or rings. An RP 251 and RP 241 are different generations, but both are Compact Series tools. An RP 350 is a Standard Series tool, so its jaws and actuators are a different family even if both tools can press the same 1-inch ProPress fitting.
The same principle applies to ring systems. A ring often requires a matching actuator, and the actuator itself belongs to a tool family. When selecting equipment, treat tool + actuator + ring + fitting system + size as one chain.

RIDGID's latest Compact model, with 360° swivel, brushless motor and support for all RIDGID Compact Series jaws, rings and actuators.
Still important because it shares the Compact attachment family and remains widely encountered in existing tool fleets. Compare it with RP 251 before replacing a working platform.
32 kN pistol-grip platform compatible with RIDGID Standard Series jaws, rings, actuators and attachments, with capacities extending into 4-inch work.
RIDGID's June 2025 cross-reference guide is useful because it separates fitting-system approval by tool family. For Viega ProPress, Mini Series reaches 3/4 inch, Compact Series reaches 1-1/4 inches with compact jaws/rings, and Standard Series reaches 2 inches with standard jaws/rings plus listed large-diameter ring solutions. For MegaPress, Compact Series is listed through 1 inch with jaws and through 3/4 inch with rings, while Standard Series reaches 2 inches with standard jaws/rings.
PureFlow follows the same family logic: Mini through 3/4 inch, Compact through 1-1/2 inches, and Standard through 2 inches. HVAC/R systems add another layer because RLS, MaxiPro and ZoomLock MAX can call for system-specific jaws from RIDGID or other approved manufacturers rather than ordinary plumbing jaws.
RIDGID calls the RP 251 its latest Compact Press Tool. The RP 241 remains relevant because current manuals and cross-reference documents still identify it in the Compact family. For an owner with a working RP 241 and a useful collection of Compact jaws, the decision is not automatically “replace everything.” The attachment-family continuity is valuable.
The RP 251 does improve the tool itself: RIDGID lists a 360-degree infinite swivel, brushless motor rated for more than 60,000 press cycles, no scheduled maintenance, 3.57-pound tool-only weight and up to 140 presses per charge. The RP 241 uses a 180-degree rotating head and has a scheduled service interval in current documentation.
If the work routinely exceeds Compact Series limits, moving to Standard Series is usually more important than small differences in handle shape or battery preference. RIDGID rates the RP 350 for 1/2–4 inch copper and stainless steel, 1/2–4 inch carbon steel with a Press Booster required for 2-1/2–4 inch carbon steel, and 1/2–2 inch PEX.
RIDGID also states that the RP 350 is compatible with all RIDGID Standard Series jaws, rings, actuators and attachments. That makes it a broader platform, but it does not make Standard attachments interchangeable with Compact or Mini ones.

RIDGID currently organizes its hydraulic press tools into Mini, Compact, Standard and Extended 32 kN families. For this site’s launch coverage, the key models are the RP 115 Mini, RP 251 Compact and RP 350 Standard, with older RP 241 Compact tools still relevant because many are in service.
The RP 251 is RIDGID’s latest Compact Series model. The RP 241 remains a supported previous-generation Compact Series tool, and both belong to the Compact attachment family. The RP 251 adds a 360-degree swivel, brushless motor, lower tool-only weight and no scheduled maintenance.
No. Mini, Compact and Standard are distinct attachment families. A Mini jaw intended for the RP 115 should not be treated as a Compact or Standard jaw, and Standard attachments are not a substitute for Compact attachments even when the nominal fitting size overlaps.
It depends on size and access. The RP 115 covers small Mini-Series ProPress work through 3/4 inch, Compact tools such as the RP 251 cover ProPress through 1-1/4 inches, and Standard tools such as the RP 350 cover direct-jaw and ring applications into larger sizes.
Current RIDGID compatibility guidance lists Compact Series MegaPress jaws through 1 inch and compact rings through 3/4 inch, while Standard Series tools support MegaPress jaws and rings through 2 inches. Larger or specialty MegaPress applications require checking the current fitting and tooling matrix.
No. Tool class, fitting-system approval, material, size and attachment requirements are evaluated first. Merchant links are a separate convenience and do not change the technical recommendation.
